Meet Our Regional Board
Nathan (Keebler) Rix, President
My name is Nathan Rix, although many people in NFTY know me as Keebler, and I am very excited to be your 5777-5778 President. I live in Tucson, and have served as JCETY’s RCVP and treasurer of my Robotics team. I am an active member in many clubs and groups, but I am prepared to go all in for the honor of serving as your president. If there is one word that would describe me best, it would be passionate and there's nothing I’m more passionate and excited about than NFTY.
Max Palay, Programming Vice President
What’s up NFTY SW!!! My name is Max Palay and I’m so excited to be your NFTY SW PVP! I live in Phoenix and if I’m not stressing over a few AP books you might find me putting in some hours remembering weird codes for vegetables at Safeway. And if for some weird reason, neither of those are happening, I love Cane’s, playing some video games, or eating some Eggo waffles. NFTY has done so much for me I'm excited to start giving back to the community I’ve come to love.
Allyson Varcoe, Social Action Vice President
Hi! My name is Allyson Varcoe and I live in Scottsdale, AZ. I am currently active in National Honor Society and the Society of Women Scholars. One of my main passions is to play sports such as soccer, lacrosse, and softball in addition to listening to music and hanging out with my friends! I have been a part of synagogue life since I was less than a year old and during the 2016-2017 school year I was Membership Vice President of my youth group, BITY. In my free time, my mother and I are heavily involved in volunteering with National Charity League. Giving back to the community is a very important part of who I am.
Maya Levy, Religious & Cultural Vice President
Maya Levy is a Sophomore in Tucson, Arizona. She served as the 5776-5777 Programming Vice President and the 5775-5776 Freshman Representative for her pretty cool TYG, JCTEY. Maya is active at her synagogue, as a regular B’nei Mitzvah tutor and Torah reader. She also volunteers to lead Shabbat services at a Jewish senior living facility. Additionally, Maya spends her time playing on her school’s tennis team, writing for her school’s newspaper, and jamming to the NFTY-SW playlists on Spotify. Maya is passionate about sharing her love for the Jewish traditions and culture throughout the entire NFTY-SW community and is ecstatic to be the 5777-5778 Religious and Cultural Vice President!
Annie Rosenthal, Membership Vice President
Hi my name is Annie Rosenthal and I'm a junior in Phoenix. I am currently Co-President for my Temple Youth Group. When I’m not at Temple, I am probably playing volleyball, yearbooking, or rocking out to a Mumford and Sons song. With all of my current leadership roles, I have learned how to balance work and fun, along with learning to get projects done sooner rather than later. I love laughing, whether it is about a silly moment shared between friends, or at a meaningless videos that nobody else thinks are funny.
Adrienne Baratz, Communications Vice President
Hi NFTY-SW! My name is Adrienne Baratz and I am so excited to serve as this year’s Communications Vice President! I’m currently a senior living in Phoenix, Arizona. When I started NFTY my freshman year, I knew it was an experience I couldn’t get anywhere else. Serving as your Historian for the past two years has created my passion for capturing memories and taught me many important leadership skills. When I’m not at NFTY events, you could find me working on my school yearbook, experimenting with my camera, obsessing over cute dogs, or going on adventures with my friends. I look forward to bringing my experiences in creativity to a new role in the movement I am most passionate about.
NFTY Southwest is governed by a board of teen leaders who are elected by their peers that serve a one-year term. Regional board members play a critical role in all aspects of running the region including event planning and marketing, and mentoring teen leaders from our local youth communities. The regional board is mentored by a Regional Director of Youth Engagement who oversees all programs and administration.
